Background
In the Netherlands, Klaas and Nelly speak in a number of (multicultural) municipalities and at conferences and women’s meetings.
In addition, they are allowed to serve in various aftercare teams.
There are also contacts with several pastors of Bulgarian Roma communities in the Netherlands.
Many Bulgarian Roma work abroad. The earnings are better there than in their home country.
Sometimes they work there for a limited number of years and then return to Bulgaria.
Others are building their lives in Western Europe.
For Roma, this is often a godsend. They have more opportunities to build a good future for themselves and their children than in their home country.
This often results in communities that do a lot together.
For example, Bulgarian (Roma) churches are also founded.
There are a number of Bulgarian Roma churches in The Netherlands.
Most pastors know each other and have also contacts with Roma-pastors in Germany.
Klaas and Nelly got into contact with Roma living in the Netherlands through Germany. But there are also Roma living in The Netherlands who come from villages Klaas and Nelly already visited in Bulgaria.

In Nederland spreken Klaas en Nelly in een aantal (multiculturele) gemeenten en op conferenties en vrouwenbijeenkomsten.
Daarnaast mogen zij dienen in diverse nazorgteams.
Ook zijn er contacten met diverse voorgangers van Bulgaarse Romagemeenten in Nederland.
Veel Bulgaarse Roma werken in het buitenland. De verdiensten zijn daar beter dan in hun thuisland.
Soms werken ze daar een beperkt aantal jaren om dan weer terug te gaan naar Bulgarije.
Anderen bouwen hun leven in West-Europa op.
Voor Roma is dit vaak een uitkomst. Ze hebben meer kansen om een goede toekomst voor zichzelf en hun kinderen op te bouwen dan in hun thuisland.
Er ontstaan dan vaak gemeenschappen die veel samen ondernemen.
Zo worden er ook Bulgaarse (Roma) kerken gesticht.
Er zijn een aantal Bulgaarse Roma-kerken in Nederland.
De meeste pastors kennen elkaar en hebben ook contact met Roma-pastors in Duitsland.
Klaas en Nelly zijn via Duitsland in contact gekomen met Roma die in Nederland wonen.
Maar er wonen ook Roma in Nederland die uit Bulgaarse dorpen komen waar Klaas en Nelly al zijn geweest.
